What are your boards made from?

We have a variety of different boards sourced from a variety of different locations, so the timber types range quite a bit. It is important to note that all boards individually crafted and will vary from board to board in terms of colour and grain.


We have boards made from the following types of timber:


Timber TypeDescription
Camphor Laurel (Australia)Camphor Laurel (sourced and made in Australia) is a rich honey-coloured hardwood timber, which is often streaked with darker hues of brown or red. Camphor Laurel has a fresh camphor smell, as well as natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.
Blue Gum (Australia)Australian Blue Gum is a hardwood timber, sourced and made in Australia, with a moderately coarse texture, and a high degree of natural durability and strength. NOTE: Due to insect activity prior to harvesting, some Blue Gum boards may have dark markings that look like squiggly lines. These natural markings are called 'scribbly gum' and are not considered to be a fault or defect of the timber or board.
Spotted Gum (Australia)Australian Spotted Gum is a hardwood timber, sourced and made in Australia, with a moderately coarse texture, and a high degree of natural durability and strength. NOTE: Due to insect activity prior to harvesting, some Spotted Gum boards may have dark markings that look like squiggly lines. These natural markings are called 'scribbly gum' and are not considered to be a fault or defect of the timber or board.
Ash / Mixed Ash (Australia)Mixed Ash refers to a mixture of different Ash species, which are near identical and often interchangeable. Ash is a hardwood timber sourced from Northeast Victoria in Australia, with beautiful honey blonde or reddish tones that rarely have any imperfections or defects. It is commonly used for high quality furniture.
Canadian Maple (Canada)Canadian Maple (sourced from Canada) is a hardwood timber which is generally light in colouring, used commonly for furniture, flooring and wood working. Its grain can range from a pale cream to a darker golden honey tone.
Cherry Wood (Canada)Cherry (sourced from Canada) is a hardwood timber commonly used in wood work, which features a light, reddish tone that will darken with age. This darkening or “ripening” process is most apparent within the first six months and may continue for several years.
